Assembly Elections 2018: New-elected MLAs queue up at residence of both leaders in Rajasthan

Newly elected legislators, including several independents, have expressed their support to Gehlot in the event he is projected as the next chief minister of Rajasthan. Congress MLAs Manju Meghwal, Laxman Meena, Vinod Kumar Lilawat, Shanti Dhariwal, Manju Panwar, Ameen Kagzi and rebels Ramkesh Meena, Kanti Lal Meena and Babulal Nagar, who contested elections as the Independent, went to meet Gehlot at his official residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday morning.

Independent MLAs Kanti Lal and Ramkesh Meena said they are going to support the Congress party only on the condition if Gehlot becomes the chief minister. “Gehlot is people’s leader and we are with him,” Ramkesh Meena, Independent MLA who won from Gangapur city, said. 

On the other hand, some legislators, including Civil Lines MLA also called on Pilot at his residence. Pratap Singh Khachariyawas who won the Civil Lines seat by defeating social justice and welfare minister Arun Chaturvedi, was seen meeting Pilot at his residence in Jalupura area of Jaipur.  

Other MLAs also headed to the residences of the two leaders throughout the day as the game of thrones continued unabated. Both Pilot and Gehlot have been banking on support of the candidates who they had fielded in the elections. 

The Congress ticket distribution was delayed because of the feuding leaders who insisted on tehir supporters getting the maximum tickets. Even the former leader of the opposition Rameshwar Dudi who lost the polls from Nokha in a surprise exit had fought with the leaders for getting tickets for his candidates in the polls held on December 7.
