The airstrip of Lalgarh Jattan in Sriganganagar will now be used by army. An MoU to effect was signed on Wednesday at secretariat. Now, the army can use the airstrip for 10 years .

Giving the information, principal secretary of department of civil aviation Pawan Goyal said that the airstrip is very important from security point of view since it’s near the Pakistan border .

Goyal said that the government was proactive and serious towards the defence issues and for this, state government has approved Rs 4 crore.

Under the MoU, Army will be able to use the air strip for 10 years and will also be able to make temporary construction as per its needs.

A committee is also being formed under the chairmanship of the principal secretary of civil aviation for this.

Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Jay Singh who was present said that the MoU will enable the  to assist in administrative and operational works. This will also help in defence related works , he said .

Apart from him , other senior army officials were also present . Notably Lalgarh Jattan also has army cantt.
