Another farmer dies due to severe cold in Hadouti region

Cold conditions in Hadouti region claimed yet another life of a 55-year-old farmer, a resident of Harnawdasahaji town of Baran district on intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday taking the farmers’ death to four due to cold. 

The persisting cold conditions in Hadouti earlier in the first week of this month had claimed three lives of the farmers respectively each in Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts.

A 55-year-old farmer identified as Kanhaiyalal Luvwanshi, a resident of Kushwah Mohalla in Harnawadasahaji town, died early on Wednesday morning after he was rushed to hospital in Aklra town with a complaint breathlessness, said SHO at Harnawadasahaji police station Sampat Singh.

The farmer had gone to his agriculture field on Tuesday night to guard the crops of wheat and garlic from the stray cattle but at around 2 o ‘clock on the intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday, the farmer’s condition worsened with complaint of problem in breathing following which he was rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to community health centre in Eklera town where he died during treatment early on Wednesday morning, the SHO said.

The medical officer, who examined the farmer at the C.H.C. said the cold condition could be reason behind the death, the SHO said, adding main reason behind the death could be ascertained only after the receipt of postmortem report.

The body was yesterday noon handed over the body to family members after postmortem, he said and added police have lodged a case under section 174 of CrPC in this connection and further investigation into the matter is underway.  

It is the fourth death of farmer due to cold in Hadouti region.   

Earlier in the first week this month, 55-year-old farmer, identified as Chitarlal Meghwal of Handiyakhedi village in Kapren area of Bundi district was found dead in his agriculture field. While in last week of December, cold allegedly claimed lives of two farmers in Jhalawar and Baran district of Hadouti where 55-year-old farmer, identified as Mohanlal Lodha of Govindpur.
