Under the banner of “Maro Anaj Maro Raj’ (My Grain, My Government), the party plans to hold farmers’ chaupals across the state.
After a six-day hunger strike at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now come up with a farmer-oriented campaign. Revealing its banner on Thursday, the party state leaders once again held the present BJP and previous Congress governments responsible for exploitation of farmers. “Our six days of protest forced the government to open up registration for purchasing pulses and other crops on minimum support price. They, however, also implemented an anti-farmer ‘quality’ criteria denying due returns to farmers,” Rampal Jat claimed, underscoring success of the party’s hunger strike.
Under the banner of “Maro Anaj Maro Raj’ (My Grain, My Government), the party plans to hold farmers’ chaupals across the state. At the chaupals, AAP volunteers will attempt to build consensus among the farmers to vote for the party. The campaign will once again be led by Rampal Jat.
President of the Kisan Mahapanchayat Rampal Jat has recently joined AAP and is being projected as party’s farmers’ leader in the state. Nearly 60 per cent population of the state depends upon agriculture and as a comparatively young party, AAP has been unable to develop its niche.
