Two-day Chambal International Film Festival, Season 2 will kick off on January 12 and January 13 in Kota. The film festival would showcase 243 feature films, short films, documentaries, music videos and animation films.

At least 492 films from 35 countries including US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Greece, Germany, France, Japan, China, Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Australia, Austria, Korea, Croatia among others have been received for the festival, said festival director Kapil Siddharth. 

Selected 243 out of 492 films will be screened during the event and awards in 45 categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and several others would be given away, he added.

The audience will get a chance to watch some wonderful feature films, short films, documentary films, animation films and music videos of various international film makers.

For the first time an international film festival was organised in March 2018 in Kota where 316 films from 28 countries participated. 

This year, renowed lyricist Sayeed Quadri and singer music composer Kshitij Tarey would be members of the jury on this occasion, he further said. 

The film festival will also screen ‘Court’, which was selected as India’s official entry to Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. It is a 2015 Marathi film directed by Chaitanya Tamhane, Sidharth said adding that the director has given special permission to the festival organisers to screen ‘Court’ in Chambal International Film Festival.

At least 75 film makers across the globe are attending this film festival, he said while adding that International film makers Uwe Schwarzwalder (Switzerland), Mercia Thompson (Australia), Brendan McKiny (Canada), Anwar Hussain Pinto (Bangladesh), Joy Mastino (Croatia) etc, will grace the function with their presence. 

The festival will screen films in different languages like Hindi, English, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali, Malyalam, Telugu, Assamese, Tamil, Russian, French, Mandarin, Japanese, Swedish, Polish, Arabic, German, Portuguese, Persian, Haiti etc. Bollywood singer and composer Kshitij Tarey will render a mesmerising musical performance while lyricist Sayeed Quadri will be the special guest.

The festival will take place on 12 and 13 January 2019 at UIT Auditorium, Kota. Dr. Siddharth added that a part of the amount raised from the tickets will be donated to the needy children.
