Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the star performers for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020. Before the final, Suryakumar Yadav had scored 484 runs and had played some great match-winning knocks for the five-time champions earlier in the league stages. Such was his contribution that many felt he should have been selected in the Indian cricket team for the tour to Australia. However, in the IPL 2020 final, Suryakumar Yadav once again showed his maturity and class which earned him not just praise from social media but also from Rohit Sharma. An incident took place in the 11th over which spoiled what was an otherwise perfect game for Mumbai Indians.
In the fifth ball of the 11th over, Rohit Sharma punched a flatter delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin to the off side and he set off for a non-existent single. Suryakumar Yadav was ball-watching and insisted there was no run. Rohit Sharma was screaming at Suryakumar Yadav to take the run and he was stranded. However, just before the throw came to the striker’s end, Suryakumar Yadav ambled ahead and crossed Rohit. In the process, Suryakumar Yadav sacrificed his wicket and Rohit batted on.

After the dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav did not show too much emotion and he walked off gallantly. Rohit Sharma was furious but whether it was with himself or Suryakumar, one will never know. After the match, Rohit said he should have sacrificed his wicket for Suryakumar considering the kind of form he was in.
Excellent from @surya_14kumar. Realised it was the captain's mistake but showed no emotion as he sacrificed his wicket in an IPL final.

“We made sure Ishan and Surya had confidence - just have to let Ishan loose, and Surya is a more matured player. The kind of form he was in, I should have sacrificed my wicket for Surya. But throughout the tournament he has played some incredible shots,” Rohit said.

The effort by Suryakumar Yadav won him plenty of praise and once again reaffirmed that he was the ultimate team-man. Rohit Sharma was indeed right in stating that Suryakumar Yadav had been the ultimate match-winner, as it was demonstrated in the knocks against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
He’s done some amazing things with the bat, but just for that one instinctive decision I’d pick him in my team every day of the week. Respect SKY @surya_14kumar #IPLfinal
