IPL 2020 will have a winner on Tuesday with Mumbai Indians taking on Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. If Mumbai Indians win this tournament, they will have won the IPL 2020 title for the fifth time. If Delhi Capitals register victory, then they will have achieved a fairytale run to win the IPL for the first time ever. The IPL 2020, played entirely in the UAE and in front of empty stadiums due to the coronavirus pandemic, will unfortunately see less price money being distributed.

In a circular that was sent by the BCCI earlier in the year, it said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the prize money will be reduced by half. Before the pandemic, the winning team would be getting Rs 20 crore as a prize money while the losing team would get Rs 12.5 crore. Now, it has been reduced by half, meaning the winning team will get Rs 10 crore while the runners-up will be getting Rs 6.25 crore.

The prize money has thrown up one shocking result. The team that wins the tournament this time will get less prize money than Pat Cummins' entire Kolkata Knight Riders auction prize. In IPL 2020 auction, Pat Cummins was bought for Rs 15.5 crore by the two-time IPL champions and this made him one of the most expensive foreign buys in the history of the Indian Premier League. This means that the runners-up get 2.5 times less than Cummins' amount while the runners-up get 5 crore less.

Cummins fails in IPL 2020

Pat Cummins did not live up to his top billing in IPL 2020 and he picked up just 12 wickets in 14 games at an economy rate of 7.86. His best figures were 4/34 but Cummins could not make much of an impact as he featured for Kolkata Knight Riders in almost every game.

Mumbai Indians topped the league stages while Delhi Capitals finished in the second position. Mumbai Indians stormed into the final by beating Delhi Capitals for the third time in Qualifier 1 while Shreyas Iyer's team managed to reach the summit clash by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 in Abu Dhabi.
