Michael Vaughan predicts this result for India in Australia due to Virat Kohli’s absence

Virat Kohli will miss three Tests against Australia after playing the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide. The reason given by the Indian cricket team skipper was that he wanted to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as the couple are expecting the birth of their child. This decision has drawn plenty of mixed responses, with some criticising Kohli for abandoning the team in the middle of an important Test series while some have appreciated Kohli’s initiative. Some social media users have compared Kohli to MS Dhoni when the former India captain was on national duty and could not see Ziva.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has appreciated Virat Kohli for taking the time out to be with family. However, amidst his support, he has given a verdict on what India’s position in Australia will be. Vaughan has said with the absence of Virat Kohli for the Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Tests, Australia will be easy victors against the Indian side.

Australia eye revenge

Australia have not won a series against India since 2014/15. In the 2018/19 series Down Under, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma all bowled brilliantly while the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant batted brilliantly to help India win the series 2-1 and register their first series win Down Under.

It was a successful tour for Virat Kohli as they won the bilateral ODI series 2-1 for the first time as well and it made India only the second side after South Africa to win series in all formats Down Under. They also won the 2008 CB tri-series.

The series will begin on November 27 and the Indian cricket team will depart from Australia from the UAE after the IPL 2020 finished there. From one bio-bubble, they will go into another bio-bubble in Australia. The series only went ahead after New South Wales agreed for the Indian team that they can train during their 14-day quarantine period. The series will begin in Sydney before moving to Canberra.

After India play the first Pink Ball Test, India will play the blockbuster Boxing Day Test in Melbourne followed by a delayed New Year’s Test in Sydney. The series will end in Brisbane on January 19.
