Steve Smith’s concussion injury seems to be much worse as previously reported. According to media reports, Smith might miss the opening game of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 against Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah on September 22. Smith’s absence adds to the woes of Rajasthan Royals, who are already missing Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. Buttler will not play the match as he has brought his family with him and he will have to undergo the full quarantine of six days. Ben Stokes is attending to his father who is unwell in Christchurch and there are question marks over his ability.

Smith sustained the injury during the limited overs series against England which included three T20Is and three ODIs. Smith suffered a blow on the helmet during practice and he had to miss all three ODIs due to the injury. Australia lost the Twenty20 series 1-2 but bounced back in grand style to win the ODI series 2-1.

Rajasthan Royals aim for good start

Rajasthan Royals will be aiming to get their IPL 2020 off to a good start against Chennai Super Kings, who have started on the fight note with a five-wicket win against four-time champions Mumbai Indians. Rajasthan Royals finished seventh in IPL 2020 and they reached the Eliminator in IPL 2018 after being banned for two years due to spot fixing.

Buttler and Stokes are part of the 2019 World Cup winning squad for England and their experience will be sorely missed against a Chennai Super Kings side that are on top of their game.
