IPL 2020: Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan depart for golden ducks while chasing 200

Delhi Capitals' (DC) opening batsmen - Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan - all three departed for golden ducks without a score on the board while chasing 201 set by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Coming in to bat in the second innings, Prithvi Shaw was not even given a chance to set as after facing two balls, Trent Boult sent him back on the third. The cemented feet, the poky blade and the away going delivery all contributed to a wicket. 

Boult soon charged again after Ajinkya Rahane joined Dhawan at the crease. On his fifth delivery, Rahane was given LBW. The big in-ducker and the batter missed the line to be trapped in front of the sticks. 

Boult not only took two wickets in the very first over, but also managed to end it with a maiden over as he gave MI the desired start.

In the second over, Jasprit Bumrah came in to attack and Dhawan, who was facing the speedster, could not calculate his yorker. A brilliant yorker and Dhawan missed the line for the ball to crash into the base of his sticks. 

This was a very bad start for DC, especially after a 60-run partnership off just 23 balls between Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan helped MI score 200/5 in 20 overs. The Mumbai franchise scored 55 in the last three overs and 78 in the last five to get into an advantageous position.

The Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma too had departed for a duck. He equalled an unwanted record of most ducks in the IPL history. Ashwin, who bowled the 2nd over, trapped Rohit plumb in front of the middle stump to send him back on a golden duck. It was the 13th time that Rohit got out without scoring a run in the IPL.
