Jos Buttler's 70 off 44 could not get Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the finish line as they lose by 57 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 20th clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians got off to a flyer as opening batsman Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock bludgeoned the Royals' bowling attack. However, Kartik Tyagi defeated De Kock with sheer pace as he bagged his maiden IPL wicket in the fifth over.

Suryakumar Yadav then joined the skipper and the duo put on the brief 39 run stand. Shreyas Gopal dismissed Rohit (35) as the right-handed batsman went against the spin but found the long-on fielder.

Gopal then dismissed Ishan Kishan on the very next ball to put a brake on Mumbai Indians' momentum. The team scored 90 runs for the loss of three wickets halfway through the innings.

Jofra Archer dismissed Krunal Pandya in the 14th over after a brief 39-run stand for the fourth wicket. Meanwhile, Suryakumar continued his fine batting and smashed his eighth half-century.

In the death overs, Suryakumar and Hardik whacked the ball all around the park to enable Mumbai Indians to get past the 190 run mark. For Royals, Tyagi and Archer picked one wicket each while Gopal scalped two in the match.

In the second innings, RR saw opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), Steven Smith (6) and Sanju Samson (0) fall cheaply. Jos Buttler continued to keep Rajasthan's hope alive, along with Mahipal Lomrorc (11) and Tom Curran (15).

However, after Buttler's departure by James Pattinson and a superb catch by Pollard, things went downhill for the Rajasthan franchise.

Rahul Tewatia too could not add much as he merely scored five runs. Jofra Archer made sure to reduce the run-rate as he smashed 24 off 11 balls.

But none to change the fact that MI were winning the clash as Ankit Rajpootc was sent back after scoring 2 leading to RR being all-out for 136 in 18.1 over.

As for the MI bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah was on fire scalping four, followed by Trent Boult and James Pattinson who took two each. Pollard and Rahul Chahar too took a wicket each closing RR game and resting at the top of the points table.
