IPL 2020: Ducks in DC camp as Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah guide MI to 6th IPL Final

A completely one-sided match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai where Mumbai Indians (MI) thrashed Delhi Capitals (DC) with an all-round performance to storm into the final for the sixth time. 

The best team in IPL has made it to the final once again while DC will have another opportunity and will play the winner of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, DC could not hold the smashing batting unit of MI. Despite Rohit Sharma departing for a duck, Quinton de Kock's 40 off 25 balls paved the way.

Suryakumar Yadav too reached his half-century but soon departed. However, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya's partnership could not be broken.

A 60-run partnership off just 23 balls between Pandya and Kishan helped MI score 200/5 in 20 overs. The Mumbai franchise scored 55 in the last three overs and 78 in the last five to get into an advantageous position.

Coming in to chase the mammoth score, DC's opening batsmen - Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan - all three departed for golden ducks without a score on the board.

Coming in to bat in the second innings, Prithvi Shaw was not even given a chance to set as after facing two balls, Trent Boult sent him back on the third. The cemented feet, the poky blade and the away going delivery all contributed to a wicket. 

Boult soon charged again after Ajinkya Rahane joined Dhawan at the crease. On his fifth delivery, Rahane was given LBW. The big in-ducker and the batter missed the line to be trapped in front of the sticks. 

Boult not only took two wickets in the very first over but also managed to end it with a maiden over as he gave MI the desired start.

In the second over, Jasprit Bumrah came in to attack and Dhawan, who was facing the speedster, could not calculate his yorker. A brilliant yorker and Dhawan missed the line for the ball to crash into the base of his sticks. 

Marcus Stoinis stood tall and smashed as many as he could. Dew came in and Chahar struggled and Boult was off with a groin injury. 

Axar was supporting Stoinis really well, but Bumrah returned and knocked over poles to record his career-best T20 figures.

Axar could not manage it alone and he too departed in the last over after scoring 42 off 33 balls.

Next, RCB and SRH will be facing each other in Eliminator 1 on November 6 at Abu Dhabi. The winner of the two will face DC and will look to book their spot in the Final which will take place on November 10.
