Here's the reason why AB de Villiers, Kagiso Rabada may not be part of future IPL editions
Cricket South Africa is holding IPL permission as a bait to get BCCI to confirm the tour of the rainbow country at the end of this year.
After Cricket Australia taking measures to prevent their players from participating in the future editions of Indian Premier League, Cricket South Africa too is preparing to follow the footsteps.
According to media reports, Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive Haroon Lorgat shot off a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri requesting to confirm India's tour of South Africa beginning Boxing Day at the end of this year. The letter also mentions that only if BCCI concurs with the tour dates, CSA will grant permission to their players to be part of the 2018 edition of the cash-rich T20 event.
BCCI CEO Johri, on the other hand, told Times of India, "I didn't even bother to communicate. We will communicate when the time is right."
Proteas players like AB de Villiers, Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock are among the most sought-after in the IPL. Even for the current season of T20 extravaganza, CSA did not extend the window for their players beyond May 8. As a result, all of them had to return home.
Recently, BCCI was isolated at ICC's Dubai meeting when the voting for the revenue model for the international cricketing body was held. CSA voted against BCCI in the meeting which saw India's revenue reduced significantly.
