Kings XI Punjab’s victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore has kept the entire play-off race alive and the fight for the third and fourth spot will only intensify in the coming matches. However, KL Rahul’s team still face a must-win situation in all the games and one slip-up could mean that they face a qualifying scenario based only on mathematical equations.

Kings XI Punjab finally broke their losing streak in IPL 2020 as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight wickets off the last ball in the clash at Sharjah on Thursday. The win has once again thrown open plenty of possibilities in the race for the play-offs. Had Royal Challengers Bangalore won the game, then the fight would only have been restricted to the fourth spot. However, with Virat Kohli’s team losing, there is a massive lifeline for the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and even Kings XI Punjab to stake a claim for the third and the fourth spots.
The fight for the third and fourth place spots will intensify even further if Kolkata Knight Riders lose to Mumbai Indians in the match in Abu Dhabi. However, if Kolkata Knight Riders win, then Royal Challengers Bangalore will be the most vulnerable from the likes of Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
