The IPL 2020 has seen over 40 games being played in the tournament and until now, there have been some standout performances. However, there have been some prominent failures among the overseas contingent in this tournament. From Pat Cummins to Glenn Maxwell, here are a list of some players who have failed to impress in IPL 2020. Their poor performances have impacted the performance of the side and they have very little time to turn it around.

The IPL 2020 is nearing the business end of the tournament. With over 40 games played, there is still no team who has sealed their spot in the play-offs yet. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians are the three teams who could seal their spot after the end of the round of double-headers that could be played on Saturday and Sunday. The battle for the fourth spot is intense with teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals all still in the hunt for the fourth spot. However, some of the teams have performers who have not performed well in the tournament. From having expensive price tags, these players have struggled for impact and it has hurt their teams immensely. The classic case seems to be with Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab, who have big-ticket players but have struggled for any big score or penetration in the tournament. Here is a list of some of the overseas players who have struggled in IPL 2020. This list will shock you, make you shake your head in despair and make you wonder as to why they have struggled so much in this tournament.

Pat Cummins was in the news during the IPL 2020 auction as he was bought for Rs 15.5 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. The Australian pacer became the most expensive foreign buy in the history of the competition and plenty was expected from him. However, in IPL 2020, he has struggled big time. He has taken only three wickets in 10 games and his average is a sorry 98. Even his strike-rate and economy rate have been poor. He has only done well with the bat, getting the better of Jasprit Bumrah in one game. He has the best strike-rate among all KKR batsmen. However, IPL 2020 has transformed Pat Cummins from a class bowler to a bowling all-rounder. (Image credit: Twitter)

Glenn Maxwell came back to the Kings XI Punjab side hoping to recreate some of the magic that he had displayed during the 2014 IPL campaign in the UAE where he was unstoppable. He was bought in the IPL auction for Rs 10 crore and it looked like Kings XI Punjab had pulled off a coup. However, in IPL 2020, he has struggled with the bat considerably. Having faced over 60 balls, Maxwell has not hit a single six and for a guy whose main forte is six-hitting, it is a big dip in form. Maxwell has contributed with the ball and he is the reverse of Pat Cummins, where he has become a batting all-rounder who can bowl but bat a bit. (Image credit: Twitter)

Nathan Coulter-Nile was bought for Rs 8 crore by Mumbai Indians in a bid to bolster their bowling line-up. However, when Lasith Malinga was injured, James Pattinson was included. When Coulter-Nile suffered an injury, James Pattinson made some of the opportunities and bowled well for Mumbai Indians. However, when Coulter-Nile was included, he struggled in the first two games, giving away over 50 runs and picking up just one wicket in the next game. It will be interesting to see how Mumbai Indians treat Coulter-Nile in the remaining games. (Image credit: Twitter)

Alex Carey was picked by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.4 crore and there was plenty of excitement. He had just hit a match-winning century with Glenn Maxwell in the series against England. However, team composition issues with Delhi Capitals meant he had to sit out of most of the games. When he got the opportunity to replace Rishabh Pant, he has put up some underwhelming performances. It might be due to a sheer case of bad luck that Carey has not performed well in IPL 2020. (Image credit: Twitter)

Shimron Hetmyer had a miserable run for Royal Challengers Bangalore and in the IPL 2020 auction, he was bought for Rs 7.75 crore by Delhi Capitals. Hetmyer was demoted from the Delhi Capitals top- order after their first two games of the season and has since put in useful shifts with the bat, apart from being a live wire on the field. He played a big role in DC's 46-run win over Rajasthan Royals on October 9, scoring 45 runs off 24 balls. Batting mostly at number five or six, Hetmyer has thus far scored 101 runs at an average of 25.25 and, more importantly, has maintained a strike rate of 150.74. (Image credit: Twitter)
