Both sides have a poor net run-rate, with Eoin Morgan’s team having the worst among all the contenders for the IPL 2020 playoff.

The equation is simple if either team loses, they will be out of the playoff race. With one more team assured of reaching 16 points, two teams will qualify on 14 points and that is what KKKR and RR will be aiming for.

With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) knocking Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) out by winning the first match of the doubleheader, it all relies on KKR and RR.

Latest Updates

  • Not the night RR were looking for, KKR win by 60 runs

A clinical display from the Knight Riders and the margin of win means that they are breathing down the necks of DC and RCB.

  • 9th wicket goes down for RR

Kartik Tyagi Caught&Bowled by Shivam Mavi. A slight bobble but Mavi takes the catch on the rebound.

Varun Aaron, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Rajasthan Royals need 63 runs in 9 balls

  • RR's hope crumble, Archer departs

In the air for eternity and only as far as a forward-running long-on fielder.

Kartik Tyagi, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Rajasthan Royals need 67 runs in 15 balls

  • 7th wicket falls, RR in big trouble

That's the end of Tewatia. The mounting asking rate, virtually no support left, he had to do it by himself. He goes for the slog sweep, gets a big top edge that went straight up and DK takes that skier.

Jofra Archer, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Rajasthan Royals need 87 runs in 32 balls

  • Big blow as Buttler departs for 35

Seriously not RR were expecting. Their only hope - Jos Buttler - departs. Buttler sat back for the pullover deep mid-wicket and got rushed into the stroke and holed out to the man near the fence.

Shreyas Gopal, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • Pat Cummins strikes again, Parag departs for a duck

Cummins on fire. Clever bowling from Cummins. Slipped in his slippery bumper around the left ear of the batsman, Parag was ducking for cover and in no position, top-edged that for Karthik to catch.

Rahul Tewatia, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Rajasthan Royals need 155 runs in 90 balls

  • RR crumble, Mavi sends Samson for 1

What's happening to RR. RR's strong batting line-up and in good form chasing big totals are not doing anything good. The seam movement that's there on offer now has taken everyone by surprise and KKR have the bowling to exploit such conditions.

Riyan Parag, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

    Rajasthan Royals need 160 runs

  • Third for Cummins, Smith clean bowled

Cummins was under the pump for lack of wickets and even started off horribly, however, Uthappa's wicket lifted his spirit and now he is exploiting the seam movement off the surface. Gets his Aussie mate.

Jos Buttler, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • DK's flying catch sends Stokes back for 18

After giving an expensive first over, Cummins comes back and takes an important wicket. Dinesh Karthik takes a flying catch to the dangerman.

Sanju Samson, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

    Rajasthan Royals need 165 runs

  • Cummins gets his man, Uthappa goes for 6

After giving off 19 runs, Cummins gets a wicket in the name of Robin Uthappa. Cummins just bowled the most expensive opening over of the season and Uthappa flicked the ball straight to the lone fielder on the leg-side fence.

Steven Smith, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

    Rajasthan Royals need 173 runs

  • 2nd Innings

Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes at the crease. Pat Cummins to start the attack for KKR.

  • Captain Morgan's 68 guides KKR to 191

A competitive total posted by Kolkata Knight Riders. With dew setting in, they've managed to post a total they would have wanted at the start of the game. They would have liked 10-15 more.

Morgan, in the last over, turned down two singles and on the last ball, smashed a SIX to take the total 191/7.

  • Kartik Tyagi does it again, Cummins departs

Kartik Tyagi got a wicket with a similar delivery. Got Russell with a full and wide one, and gets Cummins too.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • 50 for Captain Morgan

First fifty for Captain Morgan. He along with Pat Cummins score 24 runs in Ben Stokes' over.

  • Kartik Tyagi sends Andre Russell for 25

Not for the first time has Russell got out to such a widish delivery this season. He slices it straight to substitute David Miller at the deep point who makes sure to catch it. Russell was really disappointed because he has committed the same mistake once again.

Pat Cummins, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • Another duck for Dinesh Karthik

Rahul Tewatia is on fire as DK's horror time continues. Another duck for him. A tossed up delivery around off, but the batsman played for turn. He looks to flick this one and ends up getting an inside edge that flies straight to Smith at mid-wicket.

Andre Russell, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • Rahul Tripathi goes for 39

Not a Rahul Day. Tripathi grunts in frustration as he failed to convert his start. It wasn't a great ball by Shreyas Gopal but Tripathi went for the pull and finds the fielder at deep square leg who was haring across and completes a good catch.

Dinesh Karthik, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • Rahul Tewatia sends Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine back

Tewatia gave RR the breather after Gill and Tripathi put on a good partnership. He not just broke it but also sent the next batsman back. The middle overs are going to be crucial for KKR.

Eoin Morgan, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • Nitish Rana's alternate game duck continues

His 0,80,0 then 80 and now a duck again, Nitish Rana goes again. What is more shocking is that he wasted the team's review.

Not the first time Jofra Archer does this for RR. Absolutely brilliant. Archer hits the deck hard and gets the ball to wobble away, Rana was hanging on the back foot and his ungainly poke ensured it was a feather of an edge to the keeper.

Rahul Tripathi, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

  • 1st innings

Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana at the crease. Jofra Archer to start the attack for RR.

    Umpires: Paul Reiffel, Nitin Menon

    Third Umpire: Anil Chaudhary

  • Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and have opted to field

While RRR are unchanged, KKR includes Andre Russell in their squad. Lockie is out. Rinku Singh misses out and Shivam Mavi comes in.
