Former union home secretary and author Madhav Godbole wrote a book on the demolition of Babri Masjid. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Godbole dedicated his books to all the unsung heroes of the home secretary who had toiled for weeks to gather complete secrecy of demolition. He said, “We had made a proposal to invoke Article 355, by which central forces could have been sent to Uttar Pradesh to protect the mosque, and then impose President's rule.” He further said, “I have dedicated my book to all the unsung heroes of the home secretary who had toiled for weeks to gather complete secrecy. The whole success of the demolition plan was its secrecy.” Godbole said, “We had made a huge contingency plan because the state government was not going to be cooperative. Narasimha Rao (Prime Minister in 1992) was doubtful if he had powers under the constitution to impose President's rule in this situation.”
