On World No Tobacco Day, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan informed that nearly 3,500 deaths are caused by tobacco and smoking in India every day. “Nearly 13 lakh deaths are caused by tobacco and smoking in India every year, which is around 3,500 deaths per day. Studies in previous years, especially in India, show that there has been a 6% decrease in the number of tobacco users. It has decreased from 34.6% to 28.6%,” said Health Minister.
