Amid the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe rubbished the rumour of the island country being handed over to China. Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, “China has some projects in Sri Lanka but the country has not been handed over to China or to anyone else. China did some projects under the BRI, then they are some projects in the port cities which was started in 2013, those are their major projects.” “India has provided one and a half billion dollars’ credit for fuel and food. The fuel credit line will be over most probably in the first week of May. So there will be another crisis, the government has requested the Indian government to give another extension of the fuel line of credit, but there are also issues as Sri Lankan government has declared itself as bankrupt,” he added.
