School in Naxal affected Chhattisgarh’s Jagargunda reopens after 13 years

Jagargunda, once a deserted and haunted village because of the Naxal violence during Salwa Judum in 2006, has finally seen a new ray of hope in Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led state government. Jagargunda was the most Naxal affected village of Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The village and 14 other adjoining villages bore the brunt of Naxal violence and a generation was being deprived of education. With the new Bhupesh Baghel government coming into power, the village has been witnessing a change in the scenario. Reconstruction work of buildings and schools began in April 2019 and in June 2019 construction work of a school, which was demolished by the Naxals 13 years back, got completed. Over 80 students have taken admission in various schools in Jagargunda in classes ranging from primary to 12th, indicating that a new spark had ignited a whole new world for students after being deprived of educational facilities for 13 years.
