Amid the nationwide protest of junior doctors over violence against doctors in West Bengal, Resident Doctors’ Association of AIIMS met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. While meeting with Health Minister, doctors wore bandages to demonstrate their fear and security issues. Harsh Vardhan assured doctors that the government is committed to ensuring their safety and urged them to ensure that essential services are not disrupted. Doctors in Bengal have launched a massive protest that has now spread across the entire country with health services being disrupted in many cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and others. Junior doctors in West Bengal are on a strike since Tuesday after two of their colleagues were attacked and seriously injured allegedly by relatives of a patient who died at NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
