Passengers arrested at Chennai airport for smuggling gold under their wigs

Customs Department at Chennai Airport arrested six persons in last two days for attempting to smuggle gold and foreign currency into India. 5.5 kilograms of gold worth Rs 2.53 crore and foreign currency worth Rs 24 lakh has been seized. Passengers hid gold paste and foreign currency inside their wigs Custom department also recovered gold concealed inside socks and undergarments Gold bars were found in a cloth bag which was concealed in the hollow pipe beneath one of the aircraft seats.
