Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday called the Operation Blue Star, the military action ordered by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984 to kick out militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar, a “well planned conspiracy” which completely destroyed the youth in the following years. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader added that the confidential letters released by Britain Parliament revealed that Gandhi had asked for counsel from then UK PM Margaret Thatcher for military action inside the Golden Temple a year before the operation Blue Star when, Kaur said, there were no terrorist activities inside the holy place.
