Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar gave a big relief to Mumbaikars by announcing no hike in property tax on June 18 amid the second wave COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, the BMC proposed to increase in property tax rates in Mumbai by 14% based on Ready Reckoner Rates as on 1 April 2021. She said, “There will be no hike in property tax in Mumbai till the COVID-19 situation continues. We don’t know how long will it take but till then we will not burden Mumbaikars by increasing the property tax”.
