To encourage adoption of electronic vehicles in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today arrived at the Vidhan Sabha in an electric car. Patna is one of the most polluted cities in the country, and the move is seen as a start, albeit late, to reduce carbon footprints in the state capital. “The problem of pollution in Patna has become very grave, and therefore to promote electric cars in Patna, this electric car has been launched, and honourable Chief Minister has taken a ride in it, and this is a clear message that we are against pollution. To reduce pollution, the state government is going to give a 50 per cent subsidy on the registration fees of a new electric vehicle,” said Sanjay Aggarwal, Secretary, Bihar’s Transport Department.
