People for Animals secretary and Animal Welfare Board Member of India member Sachin Rangari alleged that around 400-500 trees were illegally cut in the core zone of Nagzira Abhyaran range Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve in Gondia District since lockdown was imposed. On the allegations, Conservator of Forest and Field Director of the tiger reserve RM Ramanujam said, 'Initial probe has revealed that the trees fell due to very strong winds and not illegal felling'.
