‘Most deplorable statement’ Former Army Deputy Chief on Nepal Defence Minister’s remarks on Army Chief

After Nepalese Defence Minister criticised Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane on the recent Nepal issue, former deputy chief of Indian Army, Lt Gen Narendra Singh (Retd) called it ‘petty’ and ‘deplorable statement’. He said, “I think an unnecessary controversy is being created around the statement made by General MM Naravane, the Army Chief. He stated facts during a webinar interaction with a think tank. The whole world knows who is the main instigator behind the issues being raised by our neighbor in the north. As regard the recent statement by the Nepalese Defence Minister, I can just say that it is the most deplorable statement. It is totally unbecoming to involve the soldiers of any army. Let me just remind him that the Indian Army and the Chief know how to look after our all ranks. As far as we the veterans and the serving soldiers are concerned, we have just one identity that is Indian Army. So, don’t please try to sub word Indian Army, we are far beyond petty efforts.” Recently, Nepal unveiled a new map where it outlined Indian territories to its country.
