The flood situation in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra remained critical. The flood-affected National Highway (NH) 4 re-opened for heavy vehicles and Sport utility vehicle (SUV) at Kolhapur-Sangli Phata on August 12. Earlier, the truck drivers were stuck on road in Maharashtra’s Karad for many days due to flood situation in Kolhapur. Around 1,000-2,000 trucks were stuck on the National Highway. The incessant rains have damaged several properties in Kolhapur. Teams from Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Coast Guard along with the local authorities are still continuing extensive relief efforts in the affected areas. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
