Litchi farming booms in Jammu

Litchi farming has become boon for farmers of Marh and Akhnoor areas of Jammu. Nearly 1,500 farmers from these areas are indulged in litchi farming. J&K Horticulture Dept has helped the farmers to generate income from litchi farming. Farmers are happy as litchi fruit farming has helped them in increasing their income. One of the farmer said, "Each plant has fruit bearing capacity of 60-70 kg, expected to go up to 1.5-quintal in next 4-5 years. We didn’t get benefit as much with wheat and paddy farming."
