The city is known for its sculpting prowess, which not only manufactures clay idols for various festivals but also exports them in various countries. There are total 2290 confirmed cases of coronavirus in West Bengal. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 49,219 with 2549 deaths in India.
