Indian scientist identified Delta variant put it onto global database Ministry of Science Technology

In a recent media briefing, Renu Swarup Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology explained about Genomic surveillance and Genome sequencing and how it works in a body. She said, “In last couple of months, first variant of concern was the one announced by UK where it was identified and subsequently we now have 4 of these which WHO has called Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta. Delta is the one that was identified in India.”
