India's first voter Shyam Saran Negi casts his vote in Himachal Pradesh

Senior citizens turned up at their respective polling booths to cast their votes in the last phase of the elections. 102-year-old Shyam Saran Negi, who voted in the first Lok Sabha election in 1951, also cast his vote in Himachal Pradesh’s Kalpa. While speaking to ANI, he said, “It is extremely important for every citizen to cast his/her vote. In order to make our country progress, everyone should come forward to vote.” Meanwhile, in West Bengal’s Dum Dum, a son took his 80-year-old mother to polling booth number-242 so that she could cast her vote. Another woman aged 103 was among the early voters who voted at Pappampatti village located in Tamil Nadu’s Sulur Taluk.
