The executive director of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Michael J Ryan, said that India has a tremendous capacity to deal the coronavirus outbreak situation as it has experience of eradicating two pandemics, namely small-pox and polio. Dr Michael J Ryan said, ‘India is hugely populated like China and future of coronavirus pandemic to greater extent will be determined by what happens in densely populated large countries. It is really important that India continues to take aggressive action at public health level to contain, control and suppress this disease and to save lives. India led the world in eradicating two silent killers - Small Pox and Polio. India has tremendous capacities, all countries have tremendous capacities when communities and civil societies are mobilized.’ According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the number of cases worldwide has surpassed 3,30,000, while the number of deaths has exceeded to 14,000.
