Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed a criminal defamation case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for accusing him of favouring wife Riniki Sarma’s company in giving contract for personal protective equipment (PPE) supply. Speaking about the defamation case, Senior Advocate, Devajit Lon Saikia said, “All allegations are false. Their company which produced PPE kits never raised any bill. At time, NHM had requested all in PPE business to supply kits and they supplied about 1,500 PPE kits as part of their CSR. Not a single penny has been paid.” “He has filed a criminal defamation case in which if offences are proved, then penalty would be two years of imprisonment with a fine,” he added.
