A high power committee will be formed for the prevention of child labour in Rajasthan. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced this in a webinar organised on the occasion of the world day against child labour. During the program, Chief Minister Gehlot said that child labour is a stigma, which takes away their childhood from children. We have to get to the root of this problem to eradicate it. The state government is trying to make Rajasthan a model state in preventing child labour and rehabilitating child labourers. The Chief Minister underlined that the campaigns are run from time to time for the prevention of child labour, but along with these campaigns, we have to strictly follow the laws to stop child labour so that the economically weaker families are not forced to send their children for child labour. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken several steps for the protection of child rights and prevention of child labour. The NGOs and voluntary organisations working in this direction are also being given full cooperation from the State Government. The keynote speaker of the webinar, Nobel Peace Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi said that child labour is an issue of humanity and human rights. If we do not free children from child labour, then we are not fulfilling our responsibility along with depriving them of their fundamental rights. He said that commendable work has been done in Rajasthan on prevention of child labour and rehabilitation of child labourers.
