Ganesh immersion incident Compensation amount should be increased to Rs 25 lakh says Shivraj Chouhan

At least 11 bodies were recovered while five people have been rescued in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on September 13. The incident took place at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal after the boat they were in capsized during Lord Ganesh immersion. The search operation is underway. While speaking to ANI, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “This is a very sad and unfortunate incident. 11 youngsters died in this incident. We are standing with the families of the deceased. Question is raised over the appropriate caution which was not taken during the event. There should have been a limit to the people riding the boat, life jacket availability and required number of divers were present or not.” “If there would have been required arrangements then youngsters could have been saved from sinking. The investigation should be concluded in time bound manner and action should be taken on those who are responsible for this negligence. We should make sure that such incidents should not be repeated in the future,” he added. “I offer my condolences to the families of the deceased. This is criminal negligence. Rs 4 lakh of compensation is inadequate and the compensation amount should be increased to Rs 25 lakh. I request state government and chief minister to take appropriate action so that such an incident should not be repeated,” he further stated.
