Fathima suicide case: Protest held outside University of Mumbai
The voices students regarding the justice in the suicide case of Fathima Lateef have started coming from Mumbai also. Joint Action Committee for Social Justice held a protest seeking justice for the deceased IIT student. Students demanded caste based discrimination or any other discrimination should stop in universities and college campuses. Fathima Lateef committed suicide allegedly over religious persecution. The deceased’s parents recovered a mobile phone note that named a member of the faculty as the reason behind her suicide. Chennai Police transferred the case to Central Crime Branch (CCB). The first year student of an integrated MA programme in the humanities was found dead in her hostel room.
