Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while terming the AES deaths “extremely unfortunate”, said that numerous steps, over the years, were taken to identify the cause of encephalitis fever but various experts, even from US, failed to reach a consensus and had “different views”. “I held a meeting at AIIMS Patna in 2015 and various experts had different views as to what is the reason of it. A report was even sent to the US to get expert opinion on it and all had different views,” Kumar said in Bihar Assembly where he also said that “expressing grief” is not enough on the tragic deaths.
