On the auspicious occasion of 'Vat Savitri', woman devotees offered prayers to trees in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on June 10. Married women keep a day long fast and worship Banyan tree for long lives of their husband. As per the Hindu mythology, goddess Savitri revitalized her husband's life on this day. 'We worship Vat Vriksh (Banyan tree) every year as our sacred roots are connected to this tree. In the presence of Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh, we offer prayers to this tree for long lives of our husband,' a devotee from Gorakhpur told ANI.
