Amid growing cases of coronavirus in India, Puri's Jagannath Temple has taken precautionary measure to avoid mass gathering. Entry of tourists and devotees to Puri's Jagannath Temple restricted from March 20 till April 01. Speaking on it, District Magistrate of Puri, Balwant Singh said, “The District Administration of Puri has taken various precautionary measures to combat coronavirus, in the line of state government’s instructions and guidelines. Due to large number of devotees at the Jagannath Temple, we found it really difficult to maintain an evitable social distancing. So, in the interest of the devotees and temple administration, we have taken the decision to restrict the entry of tourists and devotees to Puri's Jagannath Temple restricted from March 20 till 1st April 2020.” More than 167 positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in India, so far.
