Railway Unit of Delhi Police arrested Jai Kishan Yadav, Deputy Post Warden (Civil Defence) from Old Delhi Railway Station for impersonating as an ASI of Delhi Police. He was caught after Ct. Yogesh Kumar who had come to Old Delhi Railway Station to see off his relatives felt something suspicious about him. The accused was wearing a Delhi Police uniform of the rank of an ASI and appeared to be in his early twenties. Since there is no direct recruitment to this rank and only constables and head constables get promoted to the position of ASI that too after 15-20 years of service, this created some serious doubts in the mind of Ct. Yogesh Kumar. On suspicion, he started enquiring from the accused about reaching the rank of ASI at such an early age. The accused tried to evade the queries by stating that he has been directly recruited in 2019 by Delhi Police, which further confirmed the doubts of Ct. Yogesh Kumar. On being asked about the ID card, accused Jai Kishan failed to do so. While keeping a sharp eye on the accused Jai Kishan, Ct. Yogesh Kumar made a PCR call regarding the impersonation. With the help of beat staff patrolling on the platform, the accused Jai Kishan was nabbed while trying to flee away.
