Farmers of Deon village in Bhatinda on October 12 continued to burn stubble in their fields in absence of any government help to avoid burning the straw. Farmers accused the government of not providing enough compensation and machines to avoid stubble burning. One of the farmers said, 'We are being compelled to burn stubble. Small farmers don't have big machinery or tractors. We haven't got even single rupee compensation from the last 3-4 years. It's better they take us to jail for burning stubble, else we don't see a way out.'
