93-year-old man teaches practices wrestling in Madurai

It is said that age is just a number, and this Madurai native is proof! A 93-year-old man teaches and practices wrestling at his 'akhada' in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai. An inspiration for many, Palani is running an ‘akhada’ in Palanganatham area of Madurai. He is teaching wrestling to students’ since the year 1944. At the age of 93, he still wrestles to keep myself fit. While speaking to ANI, Palani said, “I started teaching wrestling to students in 1944. Even at my age, I still wrestle to keep myself fit and motivate my students.” “It has been more than 75 years we have been teaching the technique,” he added. No machines are used in the exercise regime at the ‘akhada’. Palani caters to both old and young men who come to learn the tactics of wrestling from him.
