Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, who is in the custody of the special cell of Delhi police, has reportedly told his interrogators that the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) has employed an ace para-glider who has been training its militants in para-gliding for the past two years.

The police have also taken his fresh voice samples on a digital recorder. These samples will now be matched with Ansari’s voice recorded during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

According to sources, the revelation made by Ansari regarding the training of LeT’s militants in para-gliding is significant. “A Chinese national has been hired by the LeT to train its cadres in para-gliding. The Chinese national is also being assisted by another person who is believed to be a Pakistani-national,” said a police officer on conditions of anonymity.

The training began in early 2010 and has been ongoing for the past two years. The LeT had bought around 50 gliders from China and more than a 100 militants have been trained in the past two years, Ansari is believed to have told investigators.

The training is being conducted somewhere in the Baltistan area of north Pakistan bordering the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China.
Meanwhile, the investigators have also recorded fresh voice samples of Ansari on a digital recorder. This voice sample will be matched with Ansari’s voice recorded during the 26/11 attacks.

“We would be doing the sample matching in an FBI laboratory, so that once the results are out, Pakistan cannot allege that they have been tampered with,” the official said.

Even though the voice samples cannot be used as evidence against Ansari in the court of law, the matching of the samples will help in boosting India’s case against Pakistan internationally.

Another vital piece of information provided by Ansari is that the LeT has shifted its operational command headquarters to the Dolai area in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to Ansari, this was done after there was a crackdown on the LeT and its operations post 26/11. Earlier, the operational headquarters was in Muridke, the officer said.

Ansari has also informed that after the arrest of Zaki-ur-Rehman for his involvement in the Mumbai attacks, Muzamil Bhatt was made head of LeT operations and he is currently working out of Dolai.
