Zee Media’s commitment towards its viewers for free, fair and fearless journalism remained unshaken. With much courage and commitment towards being a responsible fourth estate, Zee Media continued with its campaign and reporting of the coal scam, even when the rest of media stopped following and reporting it. Moreover, it has constantly showcased numerous episodes while reporting the scam, despite facing allegations, pressure to censor the fearless voice of an independent and credible media organization. But as a responsible media organization, Zee Media has refused to budge against such tremendous pressures.

The highly talented team of Zee Media worked relentlessly to reveal the true story of the coal block allocation that shocked India. With courageous efforts, Zee Media continued its battle to showcase the reality relating to the scam and misgovernance.

The apex Court has given BJP government six months to decide on a new coal block allocation policy. These 218 blocks had been allocated to steel, power and cement companies for their captive use.

Two of the four blocks that have been spared were allocated to public sector companies SAIL and NTPC, both PSUs. Two others were allocated to Reliance Power’s ultra-mega power project at Sasan in Madhya Pradesh. It had won these blocks through international competitive bidding, so there were no allegations of any arbitrary decision making.

Being a torch bearer, Zee Media has played a pivotal role in unearthing numerous such scams in the past which has impacted the society at large. It will continue to bring such scams to light in future as well despite pressures and malicious allegations or intentions.
