Solanki, a resident of Patvasheri, Gheekanta, owns an ice-cream parlour at Electricity Office crossroads at Lal Darwaja. At around 11 am, Solanki opened the parlour and was checking the stock in the back office.

While he was working, two youths, aged between 22 years and 25 years, sneaked in and allegedly tried to open the cash counter. When Solanki stepped out of the back office, he spotted the boys and tried to catch hold of one of them. However, seeing this, the other youth grabbed him from behind while the first one stabbed him in the stomach.

Solanki's cries for help alerted the traffic police at the crossroad who rushed in immediately and nabbed the duo, identified only as Jhanak and Jagdish, who were then handed over to the Karanj police.
