A young couple, hailing from Orissa, were charred to death after the woman set herself ablaze following a quarrel with her husband in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu.
SALEM: A young couple, hailing from Orissa, were charred to death after the woman set herself ablaze following a quarrel with her husband in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu, police said on Wednesday.
Karnacharan (24) and his wife Radhika (20), had a quarrel on Tuesday, after which Radhika reportedly set herself at fire. Karnacharan who tried to save her, suffered severe burns and died later.
The couple, who came to the district three months back, had got married just six months ago and the husband was employed with a private powerloom unit, DSP John Nickleson said.
Since the couple had got married only six months ago, a statutory inquiry would be conducted by the Revenue Divisional Officer, he added.
