World's largest religious festival, Kumbh Mela kicks off

The sacred city of Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj will observe its first Kumbh Mela from January 15, 2019 but the festival has unofficially kicked off from today.  Akhadas from all over India have started coming to attend this auspicious festival. 

On the very first day, Shri Punch Dasamuna Juna Akhada and Shri Panch Agni Akhada will enter the auspicious mela region from Giri Ashram situated near Yamuna. 

On the 27th December, Shri Panch Dashamano Avahan Akhada will make its royal entry to mela region. 

The Kumbh Mela is held every six years while the Maha Kumbh Mela comes after 12 years. Now, the tent city with all the modern facilities and other basic amenities is being set up for Kumbh 2019 in Prayagraj.

Post the the entry of Shri Panch Dashamano Avahan Akhada , Shri Panchayati Akhada Mahanirwani and Shri Panchayati Akhada Niranjani will make its way to participate in this holy mela. 

Sri Sapoonidhi Ananda Akhada and Shri Shambhu Punch Atal Akhada will join this religious festival together on 3rd January. 

Shri Panchayati Akhada Naya Udasin, Shree Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin and Shri Panchayati Akhada Nirmal will enter the Kumbh Mela area on 10th, 11th and 13th of January respectively.

The Kumbh Mela has been inscribed on the list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO in 2017. This reflects the significance of Kumbh worldwide. Kumbh at Prayagraj encapsulates the science of astronomy, astrology, spirituality, ritualistic traditions, social and cultural customs and practices making it extremely rich in knowledge.

Kumbh also signifies the coming together of people from various cultures from all across the world and participating in the spectacle that is the largest peaceful congregation of humanity. Participating in the ritual of the holy bath at the Ghats is an honor and a privilege.
