"I will join hands with any party 'if it is for administration' and doesn't hinder basic tenets that include a fight against corruption," reported Times of India quoting the actor.

Stating that the BJP is going deep right and that distresses him," he added, "If there is a common minimum programme that will benefit people, I am okay with it."

The actor also said that he would quit acting if he 'takes up a position legally.'

Last week, amid mounting speculation that he would take a political plunge, the actor hosted Kejriwal at the office-cum-residence in Alwarpet. Haasan showered praise on Kejriwal, saying the Delhi chief minister had a national profile of fighting against corruption and communalism.

"I also have a similar reputation and it is no wonder we decided to have a dialogue on the existing situation (in the country and Tamil Nadu)," he said.

Haasan has been critical of the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu over various issues, including corruption, triggering sharp condemnation from some state ministers.

However, senior AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister D Jayakumar lashed out at actor Kamal Haasan over his political ambitions, saying politics was not a movie.

"Kamal (Haasan) thinks politics is a movie which runs for 100 days. Is the chief minister's post some kind of a toy that can be purchased from the market. People should recognise, people should accept," he claimed.
