According to a report in Hindustan Times, the woman, a resident of Janakpuri in New Delhi, accepted the ride because the driver, Arjun Bhati, was known to her. The police said that the victim did not have any way to reach a bus stop near Galgotia University from where she could catch a bus to Delhi.

In the complaint, the victim sat with Bhati in the rear of the car, while two of his friends were in front. As per the report, as soon as the vehicle reached the bus stop, the drive started speeding. The woman said she tried to raise the alarm but found the windows centrally locked. Police said she was taken to an isolated area near Buddh International Circuit and Bhati allegedly raped her.

An FIR has been registered at Dankaur police station on the basis of the woman's complaint. No arrest has been made so far as the accused is absconding.
